Amano are supporting the Claim It! campaign from Ability Net which aims to spread the word about DSA, set the facts straight regarding eligibility and to encourage uptake of the funding.
You don’t have to think of yourself as disabled to be eligible for Disabled Students’Allowances (DSAs). Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) are grants that help pay for extra support you may need at University.
You can claim DSA as well as your student finance loan to cover the cost of support you might need if you have a disability, physical or mental health condition, or a learning difficulty. You don’t have to pay DSA back.
If you qualify for DSA, it can be used to pay for 1-2-1 Study Support – tutors, trainers or mentors who provide all kinds of help for students with a disability.
You’ll need to go to a Needs Assessment determine what your learning needs are and what your course requires of you. The assessor then decides if you’d benefit from having Study Support.
